By tracking elephant movement accurately we not only are more efficient in deploying rangers, we can secure and protect the elephants in our operation area from poaching. Our rangers live in the field for two-week intervals and know the land, the villages and the animals.

Coupled with our use of innovative technologies such as drones and chili fences, we also engage the community and educate local people about the importance of elephants to the region and the importance of avoiding confrontation with them.

The results thus far have been encouraging. From the increasing number of rangers trained and deployed to the overall reduction in the ivory trade, MEP is making a noticeable difference in the Mara-for the elephants and the community.
